The Notorious Benedict Arnold
In my opinion, I believe that Benedict Arnold started out as a hero but later became a traitor. He was once a patriot but later became a British man. This is how he started out as a hero but later became a traitor.
Benedict Arnold was born on January 14, 1741 . He had three sons and no daughters with his first wife Margaret Mansfield. He was a hero at first because when his troop was running out of food, he sent cows and other animals for them to eat. He did this so they would not die of starvation. He also stayed with his men in hard times. He tried his best to get better and go back to war after he was shot in the leg. (more…)

Mary Jemison
The name of this book is Indian Captive, by Lois Lenski. Most of the story takes place at the Genesee River which is now western New York. The main characters are Mary Jemison and a Seneca Indian named Turkey Feather.
Mary Jemison lived on a farm with her family in eastern Pennsylvania until April 6, 1758 when she was taken away from her family by the Seneca Indians. They took her to southern Ohio and then to the Genesee River to live with them. Mary was very scared on this long journey with the Indians. Poor Mary did not understand them and had a very hard time with them, but she soon came to understand them and made friends.

This week I have been going to VBS. It is so much fun we do singing, dancing, arts and crafts, recreation, and we get popsicles at outside time. We have practiced singing and dancing five songs and tonight we are going to perform them! I am excited and a little nervous, but it is going to be fun. We will get our arts and crafts back tonight. We go to Mrs. Sandy’s it is so fun. We get skittles and here a story about God. Yesterday we learned about how God died on the cross for all of us because he loves us. There were thorns around his head and nails in his hands and feet and he died. A man wrapped him up in cloth and laid him in a cave. He rolled a stone in front of the cave where the entrance was so no one could take the body. Three days later the stone was rolled back and Jesus’s body was gone and the cloth was folded up! He had risen! I thought that was an amazing story. And I thought that was very, very nice of Jesus to die for us so we can ask God to forgive us and we will be forgiven. Tonight is going to be a very fun night! And that is just why I love VBS so much!

In the United States of America, we have a government that is a representative democracy. Our government has three branches and they are Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and Judicial Branch. When the Constitution was written in 1787, it said all three branches must work together.
The White House, Washington D.C.
The Executive Branch was established by Article II of the Constitution. The Executive Branch is responsible for making sure the government follows the laws. At the National level, the President and Vice President are the leaders of the Executive Branch. The President is also Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. The President also makes sure that the laws of the Legislative Branch are obeyed. The Governor is the leader at the state level and the Mayor is the leader at the local level. You have to be at least thirty-five years old to run for President and have lived in the United States of America for fourteen years.

Earlier this week, the teacher sent a new book home for Grace to learn called The Birthday Car for advanced reading test purposes. Dad sat down that night to read it with Grace for the first time. After about the third page, mom spoke up and suggested that she could probably read it herself. So he started back at the beginning and asked Grace to try to read it. Of course mom was right! Grace read the entire book (first time she had seen it mind you) and struggled with maybe five words but was able to sound them out. By the second read, she new the whole book and was able to tell you the story in her own words.
